I'm sorry for your loss, Marcel. But I appreciate this post and agree — photography has a spiritual dimension if we can see it that way. Thanks for sharing this post with us. Take care of yourself.
How sad for you Marcel. Photos keep memories alive like tent poles a tent, Gerrit Krol once said. I hope the beautiful photo, and with it the memories of your father, provide comfort now and in the coming time.
I am very sorry for your loss! And yes, some photos are invaluable especially in times of grief. They can help to get through rough times, by remembering me how many precious moments there were which I might not be able to remember otherwise.
This is so poignant and beautiful. How lucky are we to have these moments of their lives, and that continue to live on. Wishing you and your family all the best.
Im so sorry for your loss. When my dad passed away, I realised how few photo exist of him. Choosing one (or two) for his funeral was tough as nothing existed after he was around 50. Twenty one years without evidence of life.
I love this capture of your father. He seems like a man who knew how to enjoy his life. My condolences.
Sorry to hear of your father passing. I can fully relate to what you’re saying, my mother passed away 30 years ago and there is only 4 photographs of her as a child. I have one as the screen saver on my phone when she was four and a half. Photos are treasures.
My condolences in a difficult time Marcel. It is wonderful you have many photos that bring back those memories. I have been going through file cabinets with 40 years of slides from stock, assignments, and more. I am tossing most but keep stumbling on pictures of family and my kids growing up modeling for me. Some bring laughter, some bring tears, but they all bring back memories that i may have forgotten. For me, that is the true Value of a Photo as you have written about. Thank you!
