I’m not sure what to think about IG. I had one from 2012-2016, deleted it, then came in 2019. It was completely different. And when I came back on in 2019, I had more intentions of using it as a public portfolio of sorts and to connect with other photographers. It’s really only in the past few years that I’ve found it actually quite boring. The ads, the suggested post, all that has really killed the user experience!

But I also know that IG doesn’t give a rip about what I think. So that’s what I’m looking forward to about Foto - Michael has years of experience in the photo industry and I sense that he’s after something healthy. I like your idea with the bookmarks! May steal that.

So true, I can't say I'm sad, I never really liked IG and I can't wait for the alternative. Foto sounds great !

The old IG was such a great place. The innovation exploded on there and so many people were taking amazing shots with just their phones. The most talented people were elevated. 😪

There’s nothing we can do now. It’s the platform it is and we either move with it or move on. I’d love to see photographers shine. Would love to see the Foto app succeed!

You should try Glass, a beautiful photo sharing app and community. They’re private and subscription-based, so no ads, engagement algorithms, invasive data tracking, outside investors, or public counts.

And they have an Android version as well: https://glass.photo/

I loved IG in it‘s beginnings. When FB took over a love-hate relationship began. I don‘t like the adds and videos because they make me miss the stuff I really want to see. I opened an account on Vero, but never posted anything. I think it‘s a good app, but barely any of my IG friends are there. So, I still hang out on IG but barely post anything anymore. I like your idea of going to somebody’s feed and enjoy their postings without any adds! Thanks for the tip.
