Last week I attended the first official Substack meetup in Amsterdam. It was organised by
and and took place in a small brown cafe. There were 16 of us and it was a lively evening with good conversations. It was nice to meet fellow Substackers in the wild and share experiences. Another meetup is already planned for November! As I had to be in Amsterdam that evening, I thought it would be a great idea to do a photowalk in the afternoon. Usually I go out alone when doing street photography, but I was inspired by the photowalks Dennis Sewberath was doing with other street photographers. You may have heard Dennis' name on Darkrooms. I first interviewed him for Un/Taken episode 3, he is also featured in Darkrooms Magazine issue 1, and he is the founder and editor-in-chief of Dutch Street Magazine, a monthly online magazine where photographers share their street photography in the Netherlands. You can read/download all the issues, so head over if you fancy street photography: www.dutchstreetmagazine.com
So I contacted Dennis and we met at Amsterdam Central Station on Wednesday 18 October to go on a photo walk. For more than three hours we roamed the streets of Amsterdam and had good conversations in between. Dennis wrote a blog post about the photowalk.
You can read it at www.dennissewberath.com
Don’t forget to also read the other photowalks Dennis has done. Some great images in those as well.
Here are some of my photos I shot that day
… and the following three pictures were taken by Dennis Sewberath.
It was fun shooting with someone else instead of going alone. Besides the conversations you have, you also get to see how other photographers work. Something I’m always curious about. Although you both see the same things happening in front of you, people catch on to different things.
Keep you eyes open, enjoy and learn from each other.

That’s it for this week.
Till next time,
