To my eye, they look very similar, except that the RICOH appears more contrasty — but that’s probably due to the environment and your settings.

Your monochrome work is great Marcel 🔥. I love the dark atmosphere. But I’m curious, why did you use a specific camera for each series? Was it because that camera suited the scene better, or was it just a challenge you set for yourself?

Thanks Leon. Yes I used the cameras for specific subjects. On the streets I prefer the light, unnoticeable Ricoh, when doing landscapes the Pentax is better suited and for diptychs I used the analog Olympus half frame to shoot two photos that form a pair. Shot with B&W film (Tri-X) and of course the Pentax has a monochrome sensor, so only the Ricoh photos are edited.

Ah, now I get why you brought the Olympus as your third camera. A half-frame camera — wow! 🙌

Those Pentax images are great, any chance to see them in a larger format?

Thanks Lin. Those landscapes are straight out of camera, unedited. That Pentax is a beast.

Absolutely love this Marcel, congratulations! If you weren't mentioning the different cameras, I don't think anyone would notice. Your black and white treatment is unique to you and your eye.

Love the diptychs!

Wonderful images, Marcel! It looks like you both had a fantastic time on the island. I especially like the diptychs—particularly the one with the tire tracks and vehicle on the sand.
