Well said Marcel. Personally as I explore different concepts and techniques, I find a variety of styles within each of them. That said, I've been drawn to strong lines and strong graphical elements for my whole life, and photograph to find and accentuate the same... and I don't suspect that basic style of seeing and creating will ever disappear, even if I veer left or right on occasion!
Right in time for the project I began in Rotterdam and Overschie, places of my birth and playing ground. And indeed, when I surf through my boxes full of photo’s, analogues ones mostly, from many years ago, they reflect an evolution of growth. I will hold this article of you to stay on track. Thanks.
This really resonated with me, Marcel. I have a few long term projects going and, on more than one occasion, have found the need to pivot from the original plan. It’s also interesting to see how one’s style changes over time.
Interesting topic. For me would be the same, the apartment building I grew up in no longer exists, that whole neighborhood has changed enormously, the small grocery stores have disappeared. Sometimes I wish photography was my hobby when I was 10 years old so I could have documented my neighborhood, but on the other hand I'm intrigued by the concept to have memories (in text) accompanying photo's of the "now" 🤔 Great stuff, Marcel!
Yes, all the mundane you photograph now, will be special in the future. As is the now if you combine it with your memories of that place. That is the concept of this project.
Thanks Pavel, I used to call myself a documentary photographer but a mentor told me I was more like a conceptual photographer. Had to think about that, but she was right. Will write on that sometime soon.
Nicely seen and written

Love the nostalgia in this series Marcel. Great work!
Thanks Xavi

Thanks Mark, change is good. But don't forget to look back once in a while.

Yes, I agree with Xavi. The nostalgic feel is visible and tangible. Well done!
Glad you felt it. That was the purpose in this project. My memories but it can also be part of some collective memory. Thanks Susanne
Oh, I absolutely felt it. I thunk your written notes enhance that feeling.

I believe conceptual is kind of similar to documentary, but with a lot more freedom. Anyway, you will read about my opinion soon.
