Darkrooms Magazine issue #8
Celebrating 3 years of Darkrooms! Issue #8 in high-res is 'pay-what-you-want' (even 0). This is my way of saying thank you for making Darkrooms Magazine possible.
In this eighth edition of Darkrooms Magazine (already, wow!), I present ten remarkable photographers whose work spans continents, generations, and visual languages, each offering a distinctive perspective on how we see and experience the world around us.
Experience Luis Arcadio de Jezus's deeply personal journey in "A Borrowed Camera, A Found Voice," exploring how photography became his way of paying attention to life's fleeting moments, alongside Roger Janssen's atmospheric "Streets of Amsterdam," where his relentless pursuit of special light transforms urban landscapes into poetic silhouettes. Michael Kenna's timeless "Venice" series captures the eternal dance between water, light, and architecture through minimalist compositions that reveal new mysteries in familiar subjects.
Contemporary perspectives emerge in Joost Rutten's "The Distance Between One," where digitally manipulated images create impossible scenarios that feel completely authentic to modern life, while Wolfgang Strassl's "Backyard Still Lifes" transforms ordinary urban spaces into profound statements about spontaneous human intervention. Ovidiu Selaru's powerful "Streets" photography captures souls behind surfaces through instinctive black-and-white compositions.
The experimental becomes profound in Manuela Thames's "Diptychs," revealing how combining images creates new meanings and visual synergies, while Ton Verweij's intimate portrait "Stef" demonstrates documentary photography's power to preserve human character and community. Michael Wriston's "Dream Car" examines automobiles as symbols of freedom and unfulfilled longing in American culture, and Natasja Cvetkovic's "Soul of Space" reveals how architectural photography can capture not just how buildings look, but how they truly feel.

Recommended reading! It is obvious there is so much work poured into these, such an excellent photography magazine for a song, really. No gimmicks for annual subscriptions, just great quality photography and intros.
Congratulations, Marcel! Another wonderful issue. Love what you are doing for the photo community. Thank you for all that you do. Wishing you all the best in the coming years!
