This topic is about the photo you did not take. If you haven’t seen the previous episodes, read those stories here.
For this episode I’ve asked a starting photographer, Natasja Beckers about her photos, taken and untaken.
Here we go.
Untaken
Which photo was untaken and why did you not take it?
I had really wanted to photograph the Nelson Mandela bridge over the A12, near Zoetermeer, at night. It is fifteen minutes away from my home, despite it being high on my list it never came about. Now the question is whether there will ever be another opportunity... This bridge is currently being repaired and it is not yet certain if it will return to its former state.
Taken
Which photo that you did not expect to take surprised you the most?
Last Friday morning before I went to work I quickly went to the supermarket to buy a sandwich for lunch. When I arrived in Alphen aan de Rijn I saw a large puddle of water with a beautiful reflection in it. Just quickly dropped to my knees, phone upside down on the ground and instantly took a picture. I immediately put my phone in my pocket and bought my sandwich. During lunch I wanted to check a few things on my phone. I opened my screen and was shocked by what I thought was the most perfect photo I have ever taken. This the unedited version.
Who is Natasja Beckers?
Hi, I am Natasja a newbie photographer.Photography started during long walks in the first Corona lockdown.
What fascinates me the most is that you start looking at your surroundings differently, you think you always look around you but through photography you pay more attention to details, you already have an end picture in mind when you take your picture.
If you like to check out what I do have a look at my Instagram account: @natasja.co. See you there!
