For this episode we hear the story of the Cuban photographer Frank Daniel Rodriguez Garcia. He tells the story of his photos, taken and untaken.

Untaken

Which photo was untaken and why did you not take it?

I remember in 2022 on a photowalk with some friends we participated in a documentary photography contest and we went out to take photos of everything that caught our attention. At one point along the route I found a truly great scene and I prepared to photograph, I was walking. with a telephoto lens and a woman was sitting with her child, her face had a lost look, desperation was evident, the child was crying, clearly from my distance I could not know what was happening when I was ready to photograph the passing of a bus that It stopped at my angle of vision, preventing me from taking it. When I moved to look for another angle, I had already lost that moment that I had observed a few seconds ago. The scene caught my attention so much that I will never forget.

Which photo that you did not expect to take surprised you the most?

It was in the year 2021 that I was visiting a town called Trinidad and near its park, in the distance I was able to observe an elderly man who was looking at a group of tourists as if seeking to connect with them, he was a man of the street, it was obvious. who had a condition of extreme poverty, in an instant he looked as if he were looking for my camera and there he was ready to immortalize the moment.

Who is Frank Daniel Rodriguez Garcia?

I am a young Cuban photographer who began 8 years ago in this wonderful world of painting with light. My inclination has been to photograph everything I observe, the unique moments that pass from the eyes of society. I have participated in several group exhibitions and have two personal exhibitions.
