Now that the weather’s (hopefully) getting better again, it’s time for some good old Urban Exploring. Yes, that’s what this cryptic title actually means…
I’m curious to see everybody’s hometown. Don’t you?
I guess so. Therefor I’ve made this photo assignment of which I hope lots of you will participate.
The idea is simple. Start on a certain spot in your hometown. Somewhere between your first step and the first corner, you need to take a photo. This can be anything, like a building, a person, a view over the park. It’s all up to you. Then look at the schema and choose to walk to the left or right on the nearest corner. Take another photo and see what choices you now have to choose from.
When you get to the last corner, you now have taken 5 photos. This is your series which shows your city through your eyes.
But what to do with those photos?
I hope a lot of you will join this fun photo assignment. I plan to combine all entries into a special edition of Darkrooms Magazine. Don’t you like to see all kind of photo series of different towns (or maybe the same town) but all in their own style?
In one of my earlier projects Descended Silence (you can see a few photos in Darkrooms Magazine #3 Photostack Edition) I made a several hundred photos during my lunchwalks. I came up with the idea to create some kind of a visual walk through my city, just by sequecing the photos based on different routes you could take. Obviously that didn’t happen otherwise I would have shown it, but it sparked the concept of this RBNXPLRNG-assignment.
RBNXPLRNG
I’ve created a PDF for you to download and print so you know which choices lay ahead of you once you’ve made the first choice to go left or right.
Hope you like to join this fun photo assignment. Will keep you updated on the entries in the following weeks.
That’s it for this newsletter.
Till next time,
