An Art Fair & A Magazine
Sounds like the beginning of a fairy tale, doesn't it? Well, it could work out quite well.
First of all, I would like to apologise for the spam in the previous newsletter. Despite the fact that I had indicated that no subscribing prompts should be added, Substack did so anyway. As a result, there were no less than 4 underneath each other and another one at the very bottom of the newsletter. I reported this, but have not yet had a response. Should it happen again this newsletter, please know that this is not my intention and my apologies in advance.
Setting up an exhibition
The last few weeks I have been very busy with the latest preparations for the exhibition I wrote about in the previous newsletter.
Last weekend was finally the moment. For two days, Culemborg's historic city centre was dominated by art. No less than 28 locations displayed a variety of visual art and this year, for the first time, there was also a collaboration with the city poet who had written poems to accompany a number of works - including one of my photos. Quite an honour.
I also posted about this last week so I won't bore you with it any further.
How did I experience this Art Fair?
It was my first time participating in the Art Fair. In previous years, I was just a visitor and enjoyed walking all weekend in the city centre to visit all the locations, see the artworks and talk to the artists.
This time I experienced the art fair as a participant. The organisation had seen my work last year and encouraged me to apply for the ballot. I applied, was accepted and here we are. This experience leaves me hungry for more.
I had a steady flow of visitors in my exhibition space throughout the weekend. From 10am to 5pm, it was a continuing stream of viewers. Most were impressed and the responses I had were very gratifying. The nicest thing is that a few works were also sold. That's the icing on the cake after all.
I’m already looking forward to next year, when it will be an even bigger event than this year.
For those who couldn't be there, I filmed a little impression with my mobile phone. Don't mind the quality, but it gives a good idea of how I had arranged the space and the works I was exhibiting.

Darkrooms Magazine
The next thing I need to start working on is Darkrooms Magazine. My original idea was to publish it on the first Tuesday of the new quarter, but I got caught up in working on the art tour. So why not move this self-imposed release date forward by a week?
Darkrooms Magazine will be published on the 10th of October. All the submissions have been received, so editing is the final task before I can press publish.
It has become a very beautiful magazine in my opinion and I hope you are as enthusiastic as I am. So that as many of you as possible can enjoy the photographs and essays in this magazine, I would like to ask you to forward this post to your photographer friends so that they too can receive it in their inbox when it is published and read it at their convenience.
That’s it for this week.
Till next time,
DARKROOMS is a reader-supported, weekly photography newsletter. If you enjoy this newsletter, the best way to help it grow and support me is by becoming a free subscriber to receive new posts or upgrade to support my work
Please share Darkrooms with your friends who might enjoy it as well.
Looking forward to the magazine!
just of curiosity: did you get my email?
